Commercial Of The Day

Good stuff from Mark.

Questionable 80s Music Video Of The Day

Yeah, we all know there were tons of bad videos in the 80s. But all bad videos are not created equal.

I like Journey and I like this song fine -- you could do worse with 80s power pop. But really... this video probably took what, at least a couple of months to concept, storyboard, choreograph? Then another month or two to find a location, hire cast and crew, get permits, all that crap. And surely it took no fewer than 2-3 days to shoot, probably more.

So, you're telling me that during all that time, not one member of Journey, by this time a hugely successful supergroup.. not one of the five of these seemingly sane dudes read the script or looked at the storyboards and said, "Say WHAT?! Air guitar? Air keyboards? Air drums? Are you out of your FUCKING MIND?!"

Btw..excellent mullet, Steve Perry! Oh, and the very best moment of the entire vid is at 2.52.

Best Of LOTD: Glamour Shots

(I thought I'd dig this one up again for the new folks...)

Pay your dollar and grab your collar! I don't know their real names, so I'll make some guesses.

Oh, and I KNOW some of you out there have Glamour Shots. Who's brave enough to send me theirs? I promise* I won't make fun of you.

Ooh, ooh, check it out. Our first reader submission, from Teresa, who says, "Might as well embarrass my son at the same time." What's to be embarrassed about, T? It's a nice pic. Very sweet.

Vid Of The Day: Surelock

Painful to watch, but funny. From Hairwrecker Lindsey, who swears this has never happened to her. Do you believe her? Nah, me neither.

Vid Of The Day: Capt. Jack Sparrow, Burglar

This is beautiful. Thanks, CollegeGirl, for a good laugh.

TV Land's 50 Greatest TV Icons

A list by TV Land and Entertainment Weekly, with each choice explained in this article. I will ask the question I always ask when I see these TV show lists: where the fuck is Mannix?

But seriously, we have some problems here, namely, people on the list who should not be, and people not on the list who should be.

50. Larry Hagman
49. Calista Flockhart
48. Jimmy Smits
47. Simon Cowell
46. Lassie
45. Sarah Michelle Gellar

2. Lucille Ball
1. Johnny Carson

Right. Well, I realize lists like this always skew toward more recent shows or actors, but how can you include...

... Calista Flockhart and Jennifer Aniston, but not Elizabeth Montgomery, Barbara Eden, Marlo Thomas?
... Ellen Degeneres but not Jack Benny?
... Regis Philbin but not Steve Allen, Jack Paar or Phil Donahue?
... George Clooney and Jimmy Smits, but not James Arness (20 years on "Gunsmoke"), James Garner or Jack Lord?
... Sarah Jessica Barfer but not Valerie Harper?
... Farrah Fawcett (one season on "Charlie's Angels" and a famous poster) but not .. ugh.. Pamela Anderson?
... Oprah at #3 and Ed Sullivan at #14? They should switch places.
... Simon Cowell at all?
... Jerry Seinfeld without the rest of his ensemble cast?
... William Shatner but not Rod Serling?
